Has anyone ever used an online wholesale flower company for wedding?
I am looking at growersbox.com and am wondering if anyone has used them or another company like it and what you thought.

I know people that have gotten them from there and they were so beautiful. If you do get them cut the stems as soon as they arive put them in water and in a cool place so they won't die.

Reply:Do you have to be shrewd with every nickel? A local florist is going to be able to correct anything that goes wrong without much of a fuss.
I was a wedding photographer. I never saw a wedding that came off without a hitch.

Many local produce and even grocery stores will handle wholesale flowers for you and include delivery for a very reasonable fee. I'm in MI and had fantastic luck with Horrocks.

Order the flowers two or three days beforehand so they have time to open up. Follow the directions they send and make sure you keep them in a cool place with plenty of water, preferably out of direct sunlight.

They are OK (even though they are one of our competitors, :-)) I know a couple of brides who brought in the flowers they had gotten from them. They are a bit pricey, though. I would ask a local florist if they can get these flowers at wholesale price. For example, we do that all the time.
Remember, however, that fiftyflowers don't guarantee the color. Buried deep in their FAQ, here's what they say:
"For this reason, it is impossible to fully guarantee that the color of a flower you see today will be the exact color in 6 months. Keep in mind, the color variations are not drastic. It is the color’s tone that varies. If you are concerned about matching your wedding dress or bridesmaid’s dresses precisely with one of our flowers, this is highly discouraged."
In fact, no florist (retail or wholesaler) can guarantee exact same color. But your mom%26amp;pop florist would at least try. Not sure about the on-line wholesaler, who is basically a subdivision of an importer.

Calla Lilies: Looking for calla lily wholesale company to supply flowers for Ontario wedding?
My daughter is getting married in Ontario, Canada (York Region) and is looking for a supplier to deliver bulk, fresh, calla lilies a couple of days before her wedding in July 2007. We are going to be making the bouquets ourselves. We can find many companies in the U.S, but we can't find any that will deliver across the border to Ontario.

Reply:You could try online, also ask a florist shop if they could tell you where they get their flowers. Also ask them if they could sell you the flowers. They may be willing to give the flowers for a discount because you're buying in bulk. If they give you their wholesaler, see if you could get the florist a discount because the florist shop recommended the wholesaler. You may even be able to get a discount because of the florist. It's worth a try.

If you're ever in Los Angeles, there are numerous silk flower wholesalers (many also sell to the public as well and everything is negotiable too). Specific areas in Downtown Los Angeles is Wall Street %26amp; Maple Street, between 6th Street through 10th Street (numerous businesses of this type that offers silk flowers in bulk, however, not the safest of neighborhoods). This area is known as the "L.A. Downtown Flower Mart".
Also consider contacting the Los Angeles Gift Mart in Downtown L.A.. or San Francisco. They may be able to send you a directory. In theses directories,it should contain numerous wholesale contacts. If you don't live in the west coast, consider the gift marts located in Georgia and New York.
